Art of Pride

Exhibit Runs: May 6th – June 30 2022

The Galleries at WORK_SPACE invite artists of all mediums and experience to submit work that reflects what LGBTQ+ pride and resilience mean to them. Through the personal and communal experience that art fosters, we hope to showcase stories about what it means to live as authentic and uncompromised selves.

Laying It All Out – Roundtable Discussion

May 14th | 2pm-3pm

Join us for an hour of stories and discussion with drag performers sharing insights from their life on and off the stage. Featuring: Mia E. Z’Lay, Rory Roux Lay, Ambrosia Black and moderated by Billie Lee, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at University of Hartford. We invite members of the community to be part of the conversation.

Quilling Rainbows with Donnamarie Nakos

May 25th | 6:30PM-8PM

Dating back to the Renaissance, quilling or paper filigree has reemerged as a trendy, economic, fun and anxiety-reducing art form. As a companion piece to the Galleries @ WORK_SPACE’S ART OF PRIDE exhibit, we will learn basic techniques to roll paper into coils and scrolls to create a whimsical and colorful rainbow.

Workshop is live on-site at WORK_SPACE.

Cost: $15 and includes all necessary supplies. Members get $5 off.

CTGLC Networking Breakfast

Members and guests are invited for breakfast and a discussion on the art of hospitality. This event is part of our Art of Pride exhibit that runs from May 6th – June 30 in our Main St. Gallery and our LOOP Gallery.

The Art Blend Experience

June 10th | 6PM-8:30PM

This evening will blend visual & verbal art as Manchester Poet Laureate, Ryan Parker, guides us through a poetry playlist while a diverse array of artists co-create works inspired by the words & music they hear and the energy they feel.

  • Purchase the work you witnessed being created at an auction to raise funds for future artistic collaborations that unite people thru art & conversation.
  • Contribute your creative energy to a community canvas!
  • Share your own words and music during an open mic (time permitting).

Rainbow Pop-Up Shop

Every 2nd Saturday, WORK_SPACE invites the public to tour the current art exhibit(s), peruse the Gallery Shop with unique locally-made items and tour the coworking space, meeting venues and digital story recording studio. On June 11th, not only will visitors see the ART OF PRIDE exhibit, they will enjoy our Rainbow Pop-Up Shop feature one-of-a-kind art, merchandise and gifts created by one-of-a-kind artists.
