Featuring art created between March – November 2020, this exhibit will illustrate the diversity of lived experience during the pandemics of COVID-19 and our national reckoning of structural racism.

PERSPECTIVES OF PAINTING – Art Workshop 2

If you need supplies (watercolors, paint brush, mixed media paper) you can pick them up at WORK_SPACE free of charge.
Artist, Author, Illustrator and Art Therapist Kimberly Heil will help us overcome our fears of facing a blank canvas by guiding us through some basic painting techniques that we can use to connect with the inherent healing power of our own creativity. Participants will experience how art can be a tool for personal expression regardless of one’s artistic training or experience. This will be a different program than our Art Workshop 1 held in December.

A Virtual Open-Mic Series held via Zoom on the last Friday of the month (7-8pm) from January thru June 2021. Matt Delaney, your local Poet Laureate Ryan Parker and our WORK_SPACE fam… invite you to a virtual stage where you can be part of the audience or be one of the poets who pick up a mic and speak your truth. Participants (ages 16 and up) will engage in mini poem challenges/workshops, enjoy performances by feature poets, and can perform your very own poem within a safe space and receptive community. Suggested Themes will be provided for each session.

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP
3-Tuesdays, Feb. 9, 16 & 23, 2021 | 7-8:30pm | $45
Through clever exercises, fun prompts and proven writing tools, this 3-part creative writing series will provide structure and accountability in a safe and stimulating atmosphere. Whether fact or fiction, for business or pleasure, spoken out loud or written down; effective storytelling can inform, educate, persuade, heal and entertain. Dr. Stacey Zackin, Manager of WORK_SPACE and certified Life Coach, applies her education in psychology, management and film/TV with her experience working in Hollywood and as an Adjunct Professor at UConn and the University of New Haven, to offer an interactive and intimate workshop on how the narratives of our lives and imaginations can be crafted and communicated for fun and profit. For those whose finances have taken a hit in this current economic climate, we have some scholarships to make sure everyone who wants to is able to participate.
