Each month, a local brewery and restaurant sponsor a tasting in our downtown art gallery, and then participate in a panel on their entrepreneurial journeys. This is a free networking opportunity for area professionals.

October Kitchen – This Manchester based business is a thriving delivery chef service. It provides families with delicious and healthy meals to give your body the nutrients it deserves. The menus are not customized to each individual client but a “chef’s choice” of local and seasonal foods. Weekly menus are inspired to be almost universally enjoyed with a special emphasis on reduced salt and reduced fat home style dishes.

Please join us for the opening of this exhibit which will highlight the recent works of Jane Penfield, Pastelist, and Veronique Fournier-Wynne, classical oil painter. Light refreshments provided.

The exhibit will run from October 2 – 26 and can be viewed during WORK_SPACE public hours, Monday – Friday (10 am – 4 pm), and Saturdays (10 am – 3 pm).

Realizing the lack of craft lagers on the market, Alisa decided to create her own. Her flagship beer, Rhythm, is a modern American-style lager with an ABV of 5.5%. Brewed with South African hops, Rhythm is unfiltered, flavorful, and has a slight bite that leaves you wanting more. Music, Dance, and Beer have played a significant role in Alisa’s life. “Perspectives” runs from Nov. 1st-Dec. 26th and is intended to create positive social change in and through the arts. “Perspectives” will include cultural performances, interactive workshops, and artist conversations with weekday lunch & learns and evening/weekend events.

FREE TO BE YOU AND ME – a presentation by Kamora Herrington of the Kamora’s Cultural Corner

Herrington, who holds a BS in Human Services from Springfield College has over 20 years of experience in the human services field and has become a vocal advocate for LGBT youth.

Kamora is the Vice Chairperson for the City of Hartford Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues. She is a Cultural Competence trainer for the City of Hartford’s Youth Development Practitioners Academy and Middle Management Institute as well as a consultant for the State of Connecticut’s Safe Harbors Program, which ensures the safety and well-being of LGBT youth in out-of-home care.

 

JAZZ: A GIFT TO THE WORLD – a performance with the Nita Zarif Trio

Nita Zarif, one of Hartford’s best and most loved singers since making her debut in her early 20s at Hartford’s now legendary 880 Club — the South End jazz bastion presided over by Al Casasanta, Hartford’s “Godfather of Jazz” — Zarif has set a high standard for jazz singing while displaying her eminently likeable stage-presence.
